Our client was looking to extend their existing cottage and re-configure the existing layout to work for modern day living within a rural setting.

KEY INFORMATION
A proposed single storey vernacular extension was created to the side of the existing cottage integrating with the existing rural context.
The Design
The completed extension makes use of the traditional vernacular forms of the existing cottage and surrounding context. Traditional materials such as corrugated red metal and timber cladding are expressed using contemporary detailing with hidden gutters and downpipes creating a sharp high quality finish.
Large expanses of glazing provide a connection the client's wild meadow garden blending indoor outdoor living spaces.
