I was looking to extend my property by adding a master bedroom and bathroom. We hired Hyve Architects to design and project manage our extension. Our remit was space and light. We demolished an old galley kitchen and added a split level space with a Zinc roof on the back along with a utility room and a shower room too. Decking completed the space, bringing the garden into our home. Drumview House, Monboddo, Fordoun. We chose Nikki and her team at Hyve architecture in Stonehaven after several very positive meetings with our design brief. The Orientation of the house has been fantastic for views to the open countryside, solar gain with heat retaining glass and for heating domestic hot water. Nikki was very adaptable to changes to our plans and very efficient with submitting documentation to Aberdeenshire council and the planning department. Nikki and her team changed our house into a home. Friendly team with an eye for gorgeous homes! The attention to detail was such that a "good looking design" was in favour with the local and national building standards. Very little changed when handing the detailed design drawings to building contractor which again confirmed the attention to detail and understanding into how all the trades operate and construct buildings. My wife and I bought our house after the previous owner had commissioned Nikki and her team to design a sizeable modern extension to the house which is listed. In the past I had used a specific firm of Architects, however as the design had been Nikki's baby and creation we decided to remain with her firm.We were not to be disappointed. We chose Nikki and her team to design and project manage an extension that also replaced a dark dining room and kitchen on the north-facing side of the house. My house is a two bedroomed bungalow built in the twenties which I have lived in for the past 35 years. Now retired … I dreamed of a house with more room and light … a happy, modern home which I could comfortably grow old in … but I could not envisage an addition to my property which would compliment the traditional style.
